University of Calabria student Rahel Gebrezgi Mengesha missing

Authorities and the University of Calabria are conducting searches for Rahel Gebrezgi Mengesha, a 28-year-old Ethiopian student who has been missing since October 19. The disappearance has caused significant concern within the academic community and the urban areas of Cosenza and Rende.

Last reliable sightings placed the student near the Maisonettes residential area on the Arcavacata campus. Her mobile phone has remained switched off since her disappearance, preventing geolocation efforts. The student, who was studying chemistry, is described as being approximately 1.55 meters tall with a slender build.

The Cosenza Police Headquarters is coordinating investigations, and there are plans to request the activation of the provincial plan for missing persons from the Prefecture. The Italian Red Cross and the University are both supporting the search efforts and have issued appeals to the public to report any information, no matter how minor, to the authorities via 112.
