Rahemath Pasha granted Australian residency after Bondi Beach shooting

Rahemath Pasha, a 37‑year‑old Indian Uber driver living in Sydney, was on the scene of the Bondi Beach shooting on 14 December when he heard gunshots and rushed to help victims. He moved injured people onto stretchers, assisted ambulances and comforted those on the beach.

Following his actions, the Australian government, through immigration minister Tony Burke, approved a subclass 151 visa granting Pasha permanent residency. His wife and three children have filed their own visa applications. Pasha, who suffers severe PTSD, has received counseling support and plans to return to Sydney after a recent visit to his family in India.
