Rahm Emanuel denounces Democratic Socialists of America

Former Chicago Mayor and White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel has publicly denounced the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), asserting that the Democratic Party is ‘not open’ to a takeover by socialist candidates.

Speaking on Fox News Sunday and ‘Morning Joe’, Emanuel characterized the DSA as a ‘separate party’ rather than a wing of the Democratic Party. He criticized socialist platforms, specifically mentioning policies such as defunding the police, open borders, and releasing prisoners, arguing that such positions are unviable in mainstream elections.

Emanuel, who is widely viewed as testing the waters for a potential 2028 presidential run, emphasized a centrist strategy for electoral success. He argued that the party must focus on flipping ‘red districts to blue’ rather than attempting to move existing blue districts toward more radical positions, which he described as turning them ‘midnight blue’.
