Rahm Emanuel warns DSA agenda limited to Manhattan ahead of midterms

Former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel said the Democratic Socialists of America’s platform appeals only to voters on Manhattan’s Upper West Side and threatens Democratic prospects in swing states such as North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada. In a Wall Street Journal column and subsequent media appearances, Emanuel argued that DSA‑backed candidates divert attention from the Republican incumbent Donald Trump and focus on policies like police defunding, open borders and prison abolition, which he called electoral losers.

Senator Bernie Sanders rebutted Emanuel’s view on "Face the Nation," describing the dispute as a split within the Democratic Party between the establishment and a growing progressive movement that is gaining traction across the country.
