Rahughat Hydropower Project resumes generation after flood repairs
The Rahughat Hydropower Project has resumed power generation following repairs necessitated by flooding in the Kali Gandaki River on September 27. The flood damaged the tailrace gate, allowing water to enter and inundate the powerhouse, which forced the shutdown of the newly completed facility.
After 11 days of repair and maintenance work, one of the project’s 20 MW units was brought back into operation. Raghuganga Hydropower Limited, the project developer, stated that work is currently underway to restore the second 20 MW unit. Electricity from the project is transmitted to the national grid via the 220 kV Kali Gandaki Corridor transmission line.
