Rahul Gandhi and UP Minister clash in Rae Bareli

Political tensions escalated in Rae Bareli during a two-day visit by Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi. The friction centered around a Disha (District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee) meeting, where a heated debate occurred between Gandhi and Uttar Pradesh State Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh.

The confrontation reportedly involved questions regarding the budget for the ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ scheme. Minister Singh later shared a video of the exchange on social media, accusing Gandhi of focusing more on finding flaws in government schemes rather than participating constructively. Singh claimed Gandhi questioned the budget allocated for publicity and suggested the MP was acting more as an opposition leader than a representative.

Following the meeting, Minister Singh launched further verbal attacks, labeling Gandhi as ‘cowardly’ and a ‘fake Gandhi.’ The Minister alleged that Gandhi held inauguration and foundation stone-laying ceremonies for development projects at a private residence rather than through official government channels, questioning the propriety of using parliamentary funds for events held in private premises.
