Rahul Gandhi announces November 1 protest in Delhi over voter list concerns

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has announced a ‘Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao’ (Save the Vote, Save the Country) march and mega-rally at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on November 1. The mobilization is a protest against alleged electoral irregularities, specifically the deletion of names from voter lists during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.

Gandhi has called for participation from students, farmers, laborers, women, and traders, framing the issue as a direct attack on the Constitution. He also demanded the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, whom he referred to as ‘Accused Number 4’.

In response, the BJP has criticized the timing of the rally, accusing Gandhi of disrespecting victims of the 1984 Sikh riots. Meanwhile, local business groups, including the Chamber of Trade and Industry, have requested the INDIA alliance postpone the event until after November 10 to avoid disrupting commerce during the festive season due to expected traffic diversions and road closures.
