Rahul Gandhi condemns alleged police firing on Bihar students

Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, has criticized the Indian government following reports of police firing on students during protests in Siwan, Bihar. Gandhi shared footage of his meeting with three students who were allegedly injured during a protest on July 25.

According to Gandhi, one student suffered a shattered leg bone from an AK-47 bullet, an injury he noted would end the student's aspirations of joining the Army. Two other students were reportedly struck in the shoulders. Gandhi questioned why students demanding education, employment, and accountability were met with such force, addressing both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.

The Bihar government previously informed the Supreme Court that a police constable had fired four rounds from an AK-47 into the air after becoming trapped in a crowd, though the state maintained that no protesters were injured. The constable involved has been suspended. The protests in Bihar were part of a broader movement involving the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) demanding reforms and the resignation of the Union education minister following the NEET paper leak controversy.
