Rahul Gandhi demands accountability for poor rural roads in Rae Bareli

Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi raised concerns regarding the poor condition of rural roads in his Rae Bareli constituency during a District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting. Gandhi presented photographic evidence of pothole-riddled road stretches built under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) to local officials.

During the meeting, Gandhi pressed for agency-wise accountability, requesting details on which specific agencies were responsible for the construction of the damaged stretches. He emphasized the necessity of maintaining clear records to ensure maintenance responsibilities are properly assigned. In response, the PMGSY executive engineer assured the committee that the damaged roads would be repaired.

The meeting, held at the collectorate, also reviewed the implementation of various central government schemes. Gandhi attended alongside Amethi MP Kishori Lal Sharma and other elected representatives. Following the official meeting, Gandhi met with local residents and Congress functionaries to discuss regional issues.
