Rahul Gandhi leads INDIA alliance protests against central government
Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, has intensified his criticism of the central government and the Election Commission amid ongoing protests in Delhi. During a press conference, Gandhi accused authorities of turning the capital into a fortress by deploying heavy police presence and preventing protesters from arriving via buses and trains. He also alleged that police used force against women and youth during the demonstrations.
Gandhi announced that the INDIA alliance plans to file a petition in the Supreme Court on Monday following a letter sent to the Chief Justice of India. He also called for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, claiming the official is under pressure.
In a video message, Gandhi expressed unwavering support for the protesters, stating that he and the opposition would not back down regardless of how many leaders or youths are arrested. He framed the movement as a struggle to protect the Constitution and the voice of the Indian people against what he described as the actions of the current administration and the RSS.
