Rahul Gandhi to visit Indore for ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ education event
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit Indore on September 19 for the fifth edition of his ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ initiative. The program is designed as a platform for students, parents, and teachers to discuss critical issues including the education system, paper leaks, expensive schooling, and unemployment.
Due to being denied permission to use the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, organizers have secured a 12,000-square-meter site near Regional Park. Preparations include the construction of a high-tech waterproof dome with a capacity for approximately 100,000 students. The Congress party maintains the event is non-political, though local leaders have warned they will hold demonstrations on the streets if final permissions are withheld.
The visit has sparked intense political friction. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has criticized the initiative, labeling it ‘Jhooth Ki Goonj’ (Echo of Lies) and demanding an apology from Gandhi. Yadav attacked the political legacy of the Gandhi family and questioned their commitment to the country, while Gandhi framed the event as a necessary step toward meaningful education reform.
