Rahul Gandhi to lead INDIA bloc in 2029 elections, says K C Venugopal

AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal has confirmed that Rahul Gandhi will be the face of the INDIA alliance for the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. Venugopal dismissed reports suggesting that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay of the TVK had been proposed as a prime ministerial candidate, stating that no such demand was made by the party.

Venugopal emphasized that the alliance remains strong despite localized competition between constituent members in certain states. He noted that Gandhi’s focus on issues involving students, farmers, and youth has garnered significant national attention.

In separate remarks, Venugopal addressed internal political tensions regarding the PM SHRI project. He asserted that the Congress party would not permit the implementation of the Sangh parivar agenda through the education system and criticized former minister K Rajan for his recent opposition to the scheme.
