Rahul Gandhi video controversy involving D. K. Shivakumar sparks political debate
A video from a protest in New Delhi on Monday, August 12, has sparked political controversy involving Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Karnataka Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar. The footage shows Gandhi pushing through a crowd, during which he appears to grab and push Shivakumar aside.
Leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized the incident, accusing Gandhi of behaving with arrogance and stating that the interaction was an insult to the state of Karnataka. In response, D. K. Shivakumar addressed the footage on social media, stating that the video is a ten-second clip that does not represent the full context of the event. He maintained that Gandhi actually expressed concern for his safety during the commotion, advising him to return to his vehicle and remain cautious. Shivakumar emphasized that the bond between them is rooted in trust and affection, urging the public to focus on the core issue of the protest rather than the distraction.
