Rahul Gandhi vows INDIA bloc will punish those who damaged Indian democracy
Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, stated following an INDIA bloc meeting in New Delhi that the opposition alliance is committed to ensuring those who have damaged Indian democracy are punished. He emphasized that the collective responsibility of opposition leaders is to act as ‘collective protectors’ of the Indian Constitution, asserting that democracy is greater than any individual, regardless of their seniority or position.
Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of attacking Indian democracy. He specifically alleged that ‘vote theft’ has occurred and that the opposition has been successful in communicating these concerns regarding election manipulation to the public. He noted a growing sense of resistance among the youth regarding the current political direction of the country.
The INDIA bloc leaders also discussed strategies for nationwide protests against the perceived biased attitude of the Election Commission. Additionally, the Congress party has reiterated demands for the withdrawal of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists, maintaining that the right to vote belongs to the people.
