Rai 2 to air documentary on 1930s serial killer Cesare Serviatti

Rai 2 will broadcast the documentary ‘Cronaca di un crimine’ on Friday, September 11, at 23:25, also available for streaming on RaiPlay. Produced by Rose Production in collaboration with Rai Documentari, the film is directed by Fabrizio Silvestri and co-written with Walter Garibaldi.

The documentary reconstructs a notorious criminal case from the 1930s involving Cesare Serviatti, known as the ‘murderer of marriage announcements.’ Serviatti targeted vulnerable, single women, luring them with false marriage advertisements to rob them and murder them.

The investigation began following the gruesome discovery of three suitcases containing human remains abandoned at railway stations in Rome and Naples. The victim was identified as Paola Gorietti, a 39-year-old woman who had responded to a newspaper advertisement in search of social and emotional stability. The production explores the investigative techniques used at the time and the social impact of the crimes.
