Rai has introduced Ipazia, an artificial intelligence avatar, to its television program ‘Codice’. Hosted by Barbara Carfagna, the show focuses on technological, scientific, and social transformations.
Ipazia utilizes Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technology, which allows the AI to combine large language models with an organized documentary database. This enables the avatar to retrieve relevant information before formulating responses. Unlike standard chatbots, Ipazia can be questioned live, react to interlocutors, and engage in unscripted dialogue with guests.
The technology aims to make the program’s ten-year archive of interviews and reports interactive.
