Rai shifts Netflix series to different channel following low ratings
The collaboration between Netflix and the Italian broadcaster Rai is facing challenges due to a mismatch in consumption timing. The series ‘La legge di Lidia Poët’, which has been available on Netflix since 2023, saw its first season broadcast on free-to-air television with significant delays. This gap between immediate streaming availability and delayed broadcast has negatively impacted Auditel ratings.
Following lower-than-expected viewership on Rai1, the broadcaster has made sudden programming changes. After the third and fourth episodes failed to meet the flagship network's objectives—averaging approximately 1.5 million viewers and a 9.9% share—the final two episodes of the first season were moved from Rai1 to Rai3. This shift occurred as the audience showed a declining interest in waiting for content that is already widely accessible via streaming platforms.
