Rai to broadcast biographical film on writer Giovannino Guareschi

Rai will broadcast the film ‘Giovannino Guareschi – Non muoio neanche se mi ammazzano’ on Sunday, September 20, in prime time on Rai1. Directed by Andrea Porporati and starring Giuseppe Zeno, the production is a biographical fiction exploring the life of the renowned Italian writer and creator of the Don Camillo and Peppone characters.

The film depicts Guareschi’s life, including his refusal to fight for the Nazi-aligned Social Republic, which led to his deportation to a German prisoner camp. It also highlights his ideological stances against both Soviet communism and American consumerist capitalism, as well as his deep connection to the Bassa Padana region.

A national preview of the film will take place on September 16 at Palazzo Madama in Rome. Following this, the film will be screened in Brescello on September 20 as part of the Parva Mundi festival, marking the conclusion of the National Day of Italian Military Internees.
