Rai unveils Prix Italia 2026 visual “Play Human” in L'Aquila

Italy’s public broadcaster Rai, together with the municipality of L'Aquila, the Abruzzo region and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presented the key visual for the 78th edition of the Prix Italia, scheduled for 28 September–2 October 2026 in L'Aquila, the 2026 Italian Capital of Culture.

The new visual shows a young performer suspended in a leap, set against the silhouette of the Gran Sasso mountain range, and is accompanied by the claim “Play Human”. According to Prix Italia Secretary‑General Chiara Longo Bifano, the image is meant to embody a “new digital humanism” that demonstrates how technology and creativity can collaborate to create shared cultural experiences. Rai Creativa director Pierluigi Colantoni added that the visual highlights the potential for technology to amplify, rather than replace, human creativity.

The 2026 edition will focus on Performing Arts and will feature collaborations such as a project with the Abruzzo Symphony Orchestra, a performance by New Zealand choreographer Corey Baker, and involvement of local cultural and sports institutions.
