Rai2 apologizes for cutting the ending of ‘The Da Vinci Code’

Rai2 director of Cinema and TV Series, Adriano De Maio, has issued a formal apology following a broadcasting error during the prime-time airing of ‘The Da Vinci Code’. The film was abruptly cut before its final sequence, preventing viewers from seeing the resolution of the story.

The interruption occurred just as the film's central mystery was being resolved, leading to immediate complaints from viewers on social media. Following the cut, the channel aired advertisements and transitioned into the sports program ‘Il Processo del lunedì’.

De Maio explained that managing approximately 40,000 hours of cinema annually involves complex technical and alphanumeric processes, noting that human or technical errors can occur. To rectify the situation, Rai has announced that the remaining films in the Dan Brown trilogy, ‘Angels & Demons’ and ‘Inferno’, will be broadcast on Rai2, with the full trilogy also scheduled for replay on Rai Movie and RaiPlay.
