Rai2 to debut crime series Estranei in October

The new crime series ‘Estranei’, directed by Cosimo Alemà, is set to debut on Rai2 and RaiPlay on Friday, October 9, 2026. The production is a co-production between Rai Fiction, Eagle Pictures, and Rai Com.

Set in the Emilia region, specifically around Correggio, the story explores the social dynamics of a local area where the Italian population and a significant Sikh community have coexisted for decades. The plot is triggered by the disappearance of two young lovers, Camilla and Manraj, who belong to these different communities. Their disappearance sparks mutual suspicion, prejudices, and tensions that threaten the local social balance.

The investigation is led by Laura, a Carabinieri negotiator played by Elena Radonicich, who returns to her hometown to care for her ailing father. She is joined by Bisan, played by Kel Giordano, who is Manraj’s cousin. The series, which will consist of eight episodes aired over four evenings, uses the crime genre to examine themes of integration, cultural coexistence, and social conflict within the foggy landscape of the Po Valley.
