Raiders rookie Fernando Mendoza debuts signature meal and unique sideline strategy
Las Vegas Raiders rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza is making an impact at Allegiant Stadium both on and off the field. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft has inspired a new menu item at the stadium’s brand-new Taco Bell Cantina, which marks the first time the chain’s Cantina concept has opened inside a professional football venue. The “Manager Mendoza Special” includes Nacho Fries, a Doritos Locos Taco, and five crispy chicken strips.
On the field, Mendoza has utilized a unique method to prepare for his future role as a starter. During the Raiders’ season opener, Mendoza was observed wearing a helmet on the sideline while backing up Kirk Cousins. He explained that wearing the helmet allows him to hear the direct communication between coaches and the starting quarterback through the headset, enabling him to better visualize game situations and mimic play calls.
