Raiffeisen Bank to acquire Garanti Bank Romania for €591 million

Raiffeisen Bank is set to acquire Garanti Bank Romania and other local assets from the Garanti BBVA group in a transaction valued at approximately 591 million euros. The acquisition is expected to be finalized by mid-October 2026, with full operational merger and integration projected for August 2027. The process will include rebranding and the integration of leasing operations starting in November 2026. Customer migration to Raiffeisen systems will occur gradually, with new product availability estimated for early 2027. PwC is providing consultancy support for the data migration and technical integration.

Separately, the digital financial platform Revolut has partnered with MetLife to launch a Credit Protection Insurance service. Available to customers in Romania, Spain, Portugal, and France, the optional service covers unforeseen circumstances such as involuntary job loss, temporary or permanent disability, hospitalization, or death. Users can choose between a basic package covering death, disability, and hospitalization, or a complete package that includes coverage for job loss. The service can be managed directly through the Revolut application for both new and existing credit agreements.
