Rail Baltica viaduct conservation costs estimated in Latvia
The Latvian Ministry of Transport has reported estimated costs for the conservation of a Rail Baltica viaduct and pier located over the Daugava River. The 140-meter structure, which spans Lastādija Street and General Radziņš embankment, requires conservation until bridge construction can officially begin.
Developing the engineering conservation project for the Riga Central Station 3A sub-section is estimated to cost €81,414 including VAT. This initial step is considered an urgent prerequisite to allow the European Railway Lines (EDzL) agency to refine work volumes, solutions, and procurement requirements.
In a long-term conservation scenario extending to 2035, provisional costs for conservation works and the project itself are estimated at approximately €551,000 excluding VAT. Minimum maintenance required before major works begin is estimated at €31,069 excluding VAT, bringing the total identified conservation and maintenance needs for the 3A sub-section to approximately €582,069 excluding VAT.
