Rail disruptions hit Rome-Ciampino lines due to technical issues and weather

Rail services in the Rome region are facing significant disruptions due to a combination of technical issues and severe weather damage. On September 12, 2026, technical problems near Ciampino caused delays and cancellations on the Rome-Cassino line, affecting commuters traveling toward the capital.

Separately, heavy rainfall has caused flooding and infrastructure damage, leading to suspended circulation on several lines. The FL4 line remains suspended between Ciampino and Pavona, as well as between Ciampino and Marino. Additionally, flooding at Nettuno station forced the cancellation of multiple early morning services on the Nettuno-Rome route, affecting stations including Anzio and Lido di Lavinio.

Trenitalia has implemented replacement bus services for the interrupted routes, and technicians are working to repair the damage caused by the weather.
