Railroad excursions offer seasonal foliage tours in Maine and Oregon
Various railroad excursions across the United States are offering seasonal trips to view autumn foliage and participate in fall traditions.
In Maine, the WW&F Railway Museum in Alna operates the Pumpkin Pickin’ Train. Passengers board a historic narrow gauge steam train at Sheepscot Station to travel through the Sheepscot Valley. Upon reaching Top of Mountain, travelers use a wagon to reach SeaLyon Farm for pumpkin picking. The service runs on select dates throughout October.
In Northeastern Oregon, the Sumpter Valley Railroad is hosting trips through the valley from October 16-18, with departures from the McEwen Depot. Additionally, the Eagle Cap Excursion Train is offering several foliage-focused trips, including the Fall Foliage Two Rivers excursion and the Minam Bonus trip, which follows the Grande Ronde and Wallowa Rivers.
