Railway crossings in Poland see multiple dangerous vehicle incidents
Multiple dangerous incidents involving vehicles at railway crossings have been reported in Poland. In Pszczyna, near the Pszczyna Czarków stop, a tractor driver ignored a flashing red light and entered the crossing as the barriers were closing. The vehicle became stuck, causing damage to the barrier mechanism during an attempt to reverse. While a train was approaching, workers nearby alerted the traffic controller, allowing the train to reduce speed and avoid a collision. The incident caused delays for three trains and resulted in approximately 1,800 PLN in damages.
In the Małopolska region, between Andrychów and Kęty, a bus entered the tracks just before an oncoming Polregio train. The train driver managed to perform an emergency brake, resulting in a collision but avoiding a more severe tragedy. Additionally, in Andrychów, a delivery driver transporting potatoes failed to slow down at a crossing marked with a STOP sign and struck a Polregio train. The driver received a fine and lost their driver's license due to the violation.
