Railway festivals held across various Japanese regions
Multiple railway-themed festivals were held across Japan to promote local rail charm and engage families and enthusiasts.
In Aomori, the Aomori Station Festival featured train simulators where children could practice driving under JR staff instruction. The event included displays of Shinkansen Plarail models and old station signage, as well as opportunities to wear uniforms from the TRAINSUITE Shiki-shima sleeper train.
In Niigata, the Nihongi Station Railway Festival was organized by the Nakago Ward Community Development Promotion NPO. The event highlighted the station's unique switchback feature through mini-Shinkansen rides and station tours led by Echigo Tokimeki Railway employees. The festival included stage performances and collaborations with Niigata University students.
In Kagoshima, JR Kyushu hosted the Kagoshima Kids Park at Amu Plaza. The event offered unique experiences such as riding maintenance vehicles used for overhead line inspections and taking commemorative photos in station staff uniforms using electronic display boards.
