Railway incident near Ploiești Sud damages Intercity train pantograph

A railway incident occurred near the Ploiești Sud station in Romania on Friday evening involving an Intercity train operated by Ferotrafic TFI. The train, IC 11754, was traveling from Suceava to Bucharest when its pantograph was damaged during transit.

Passengers reported hearing a loud explosion and seeing large flames near the second carriage. However, Dumitru Anchidin, owner of Ferotrafic TFI, stated that no flames occurred and attributed the damage to the contact wire near an overhead switch. All passengers were evacuated and redirected to subsequent trains to complete their journey to Bucharest.

The incident follows a similar occurrence in the same area shortly before, involving a train operated by Transferoviar Călători, which also reported a broken pantograph. As a result of these technical failures, rail traffic was restricted on several lines near Ploiești, and power was cut to certain sections to allow for repairs and maintenance.
