Railway incidents reported in India involving Shaheed Express and Vande Bharat Express
Two separate incidents involving passenger trains have been reported in India. On Friday night, a fire broke out in the S-6 sleeper coach of the Shaheed Express near Nagina railway station in the Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh. The train, traveling from Amritsar to Jaynagar, was stopped by passengers using the emergency chain after smoke and flames were observed. While some passengers' belongings were damaged, no injuries or fatalities were reported. Railway officials replaced the damaged coach in Bareilly, and an investigation into whether a short circuit or technical fault caused the fire is underway.
In a separate incident in Gujarat, railway police arrested three individuals for throwing stones at the Vande Bharat Express near Surat. The attack occurred on the night of October 18 between the Utran and Surat stations, targeting coach C-6 and the pantry car. The stones shattered three window panes, but no passengers or crew members were injured. The suspects, identified as laborers from Bihar, reportedly confessed to the act, claiming they threw the stones merely for entertainment. They have been charged under Section 153 of the Railways Act.
