Railway modernization contracts for Brașov-Sighișoara line undergo 18 modifications

The National Railway Company (CFR SA) has reported 18 modifications to two consultancy and supervision contracts related to the modernization of the Brașov–Sighișoara railway line. The contracts, originally signed in October 2020, have a combined value of 63.75 million lei, excluding VAT.

The first contract covers the Apața–Cața section with a value of 27.43 million lei, while the second covers the Brașov–Apața and Cața–Sighișoara sections, valued at 36.32 million lei. The modifications consist of seven changes for the Apața–Cața section and 11 for the other segments. The services involve technical project verification, work coordination, and supervision to ensure execution standards.

This modernization project is part of the Rhine–Danube railway corridor and aims to enable train speeds of up to 160 km/h. Current public procurement records do not specify the nature of the 18 modifications or whether they resulted in increased costs.
