Railways in Taiwan and China prepare for major holiday travel surges

Rail networks in Taiwan and China are preparing for major holiday travel surges. In Taiwan, the Taiwan Railways Administration reported selling over 72,000 tickets for the upcoming three-day Guangfu Festival long weekend. High Speed Rail plans to add 86 additional services, with ticket sales opening on September 25.

In China, the railway transport period for the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays has commenced, running from September 23 to October 8. China State Railway Group expects to transport approximately 284 million passengers during this 16-day period, with the peak volume anticipated on October 1. To accommodate demand, the railway will operate approximately 13,000 trains daily and add around 890 extra trains across different regions. As of September 23, over 96 million tickets have already been sold via the 12306 platform.
