Rainer Bonhof rejects calls to resign as Borussia Mönchengladbach faces crisis

Borussia Mönchengladbach President Rainer Bonhof has rejected calls for his resignation following a severe sporting crisis. The club, currently at the bottom of the Bundesliga without a single point, faces a potential record-breaking losing streak if they fail to secure results in upcoming matches.

The Gladbach fan umbrella organization recently called for the entire presidency to step down to allow for a new leadership structure. Bonhof, the 1974 World Cup winner, expressed that while the criticism is personal and difficult, he intends to stay and fight to lead the club out of its current situation.

Bonhof acknowledged the lack of confidence within the team and the validity of the concerns being raised, but emphasized his commitment to the club. He has not yet confirmed whether he will seek re-election in 2027, stating his immediate focus is on resolving the club's current difficulties.
