Rainfall disrupts road maintenance in Mogi das Cruzes and Dourados

Heavy rainfall in Brazil is impacting municipal road maintenance efforts in Mogi das Cruzes and Dourados.

In Mogi das Cruzes, the Municipal Secretariat of Urban Services and Maintenance is continuing pothole repairs during brief dry periods to maintain traffic conditions for vehicles. Between January and August 2026, the city completed 26,594 pothole repairs, covering over 158,000 square meters with approximately 11,167 tons of asphalt. Officials stated that maintenance will intensify once the weather stabilizes.

In Dourados, the Municipal Secretariat of Public Works reported that significant rainfall has hindered pothole repair teams and delayed the start of asphalt resurfacing projects. Local meteorological data shows nearly 100 mm of rain since September 1, which has exacerbated existing road damage and created new potholes. Mayor Marçal Filho indicated that if weather forecasts remain stable, service orders for resurfacing, drainage, and road signaling will be signed later this week.
