Rainfall Expected in Honduras as Tropical Waves Bring Drought Relief

The National Center for Atmospheric Studies, Oceanographic and Seismic Research (CEN AOS) said two tropical waves will move into Honduras beginning Monday, delivering moderate to heavy rain with accumulations of up to 40 mm. The first wave is forecast to affect most of the country on Monday and Tuesday, offering a welcome reprieve for thousands of families hit by the prolonged drought and heat linked to the El Niño phenomenon. A second wave, currently forming off the African coast, is being tracked for a later arrival.

Meteorological forecasts also show possible showers over the capital, Tegucigalpa, from July 30 through August 2, mainly in the afternoon and evening, with isolated rain spells expected. Authorities urge the public to stay informed through official bulletins as conditions can change.
