Venezuelan baseball players reach major MLB and MiLB milestones

Several Venezuelan and international baseball players are reaching significant milestones in Major League Baseball and the minor leagues.

In the MLB, Willson Contreras of the Boston Red Sox has reached 1,070 career hits, equaling the mark set by Venezuelan legend Luis Salazar. Contreras is enjoying a career-best season, recording 26 home runs and 78 RBIs with a .933 OPS. His acquisition from the St. Louis Cardinals is being viewed as a major success for Boston. Meanwhile, Aroldis Chapman of the Red Sox secured his 28th save of the season, bringing his career total to 395 as he nears the 400-save milestone.

In the minor leagues, Rainiel Rodríguez has joined an elite group of players by hitting 15 or more home runs in Double-A before age 20. Venezuelan outfielder Leandro Pineda has also seen significant success after being promoted to Triple-A with the Washington Nationals' affiliate, Rochester, posting a .736 slugging percentage.

Additionally, pitcher Edgardo Henríquez is performing at an elite level with the Los Angeles Dodgers after a successful stint in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP).
