Centro Cultural Rainieri inaugurated in Punta Cana
The Centro Cultural Rainieri has officially opened in Punta Cana, La Altagracia, marking a significant new cultural landmark for the eastern region of the Dominican Republic. Founded by Frank and Haydée Rainieri through the Frank and Haydée Rainieri Foundation, the non-profit complex is designed to preserve and promote Dominican history, arts, and traditions.
The facility spans approximately 9,000 square meters and includes permanent and temporary exhibition halls, a 287-capacity auditorium, workshop areas, and spaces for educational activities. The architecture, designed by Juan Caro, draws inspiration from the nest of the palm cita, the national bird of the country. The center aims to diversify the tourism offering of Punta Cana by providing visitors and residents with deep cultural engagement beyond the region's traditional beach activities.
The official inauguration ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials, including Dominican President Luis Abinader, First Lady Raquel Arbaje, and Vice President Raquel Peña, as well as former presidents from the Dominican Republic, Colombia, and Mexico. Alex Martínez Suárez has been appointed as the inaugural director. The center is scheduled to open to the general public on October 28.
