Raipur police arrest eight for alleged rape and child trafficking

Police in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, have arrested eight individuals, including a 38-year-old father, following allegations of repeated sexual assault, forgery, and child trafficking involving a 16-year-old girl.

The investigation revealed that the father allegedly assaulted his daughter starting in 2023, using threats to prevent her from disclosing the abuse. Following a pregnancy, the father and a paternal aunt allegedly forced the teenager to take abortion medication. After a subsequent pregnancy, the father and his associates reportedly used forged identity documents to misrepresent the girl as an adult married woman to facilitate her admission to Vasudev Hospital in Danganiya.

Authorities allege that after the girl gave birth via caesarean section, the newborn was sold to another individual through collusion between the father, his associates, and medical staff. The case was brought to light after the victim contacted her mother via social media to disclose the abuse.
