Raise Her Voice campaign in Greece spotlights gender violence against women with disabilities

The non‑profit organisation “Reading for Others” (Διαβάζω για τους Άλλους) launched the accessible “Raise Her Voice” awareness campaign on 1 July. The initiative presents ten audio narratives based on real, anonymous cases of gender‑based violence and ten creative posters that illustrate controlling, demeaning, isolating, financially dependent and psychologically abusive behaviours often disguised as love or concern. The campaign was designed with input from women with and without disabilities and from young men who took part in focus groups, ensuring the material reflects lived experiences. Founder and general director Argyró Spyridaki stresses that early recognition of violence is crucial for safety and rights. UN Women data cited by the organisers indicate that women with disabilities face a two‑ to three‑fold higher risk of abuse. “Raise Her Voice” is part of the EU‑funded POWER project, co‑financed by the CERV programme and implemented together with WeWorld, ActionAid Hellas and the Asociación Bienestar y Desarrollo (ABD).
