Raj Kundra challenges PMLA court order in Bombay High Court bitcoin case
Actor‑businessman Raj Kundra, husband of actress Shilpa Shetty, has filed a writ petition in the Bombay High Court seeking to quash a Special PMLA Court order that took cognizance of an Enforcement Directorate (ED) complaint. The ED alleges Kundra received 285 bitcoins worth about ₹185 crore from a failed bitcoin‑mining project in Ukraine and failed to account for the cryptocurrency.
Kundra argues the Special Court did not follow mandatory procedures under Section 223(1) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, rendering the January 5, 2026 cognizance order invalid. The Bombay High Court admitted the petition, issued a notice to the ED, and scheduled a hearing for August 6, 2026.
