Raj Kundra discusses emotional struggles and divorce rumors during 2021 jail period

Businessman and actor Raj Kundra has shared details regarding the emotional distress he experienced during his 63-day incarceration at Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail in 2021. Kundra revealed that hearing media rumors regarding a divorce from his wife, actress Shilpa Shetty, led to suicidal ideation while he was in custody.

Kundra stated that the rumors made him feel as though there was “no point in living,” but he regained courage after a phone call with Shetty, who dismissed the reports as “rubbish news” and reaffirmed her support.

Kundra was originally arrested on July 19, 2021, following an investigation by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch into a pornography racket involving applications such as Hotshots and Bollyfame. He was granted bail in September 2021. He noted that he learned of his arrest via social media while at the police station and that Shetty managed the legal and business fallout following the incident.
