Shikhar Agarwal: IAS officer and wife face corruption probe
The Rajasthan government has authorized the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) to investigate senior IAS officer Shikhar Agarwal for alleged misuse of power and corruption. The probe focuses on allegations that Agarwal provided undue benefits, including special financial packages and regulatory clearances, to Goyal Fashions Private Limited, which operates the Ananta brand of resorts.
Investigators are examining the acquisition of approximately 36 to 40 villas and cottages in Udaipur and Alwar, reportedly valued between 5.52 and 6.15 crore rupees. These properties were allegedly purchased at prices significantly below market value by Agarwal, his wife, IPS officer Prashakha Mathur, and other family members. Some reports suggest the properties were subsequently leased back to the same company.
Following the investigation's commencement, both Agarwal and Mathur have been placed on Attached to Post Orders (APO) for administrative reasons. The ACB is reviewing government records and financial documents to determine if there is a direct link between official decisions and the family's property acquisitions.
