Rajasthan approves 25 crore rupees for high-tech traffic safety equipment

The Rajasthan Transport and Road Safety Department has approved several proposals totaling approximately 25 crore rupees to modernize traffic policing and reduce highway accidents. The funding, sourced from the dedicated Road Safety Fund, will be used to procure high-tech equipment to enhance monitoring and enforcement.

Key acquisitions include 500 breath analyzers to detect drunk driving and 25 handheld night-vision speed radar guns for motorcycles. Additionally, 25 interceptor vehicles equipped with rescue capabilities will be purchased to monitor speeding vehicles and provide immediate assistance to accident victims. To improve digital enforcement, 4.10 crore rupees have been allocated to provide all 41 police districts with resources for a next-generation e-challan system, including laptops and electronic devices.

In Jaipur, 50 lakh rupees have been sanctioned for a scientific study to address increasing traffic congestion. This study aims to facilitate the development of an Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) and an Area Traffic Control System. While these measures have been approved, proposals for an additional 100 interceptors and 100 highway patrolling vehicles are currently pending approval from the Finance Department.
