Rajasthan Chief Minister implements zero-tolerance crime policy
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has announced a zero-tolerance policy toward crime and police negligence following a high-level law and order review in Jaipur. The crackdown resulted in the suspension of one officer, the removal of two others, and six officers being placed on waiting status (APO).
The measures follow the death of former BJP legislator Atar Singh Bhadana, who was reportedly beaten to death in Bharatpur following a dispute over a crusher plant. In response to the incident, RLP President and MP Hanuman Beniwal demanded the immediate removal of the Bharatpur Range IG and District SP. Chief Minister Sharma has ordered a thorough and impartial investigation into Bhadana’s death.
Additionally, Director General of Police Rajiv Kumar Sharma has directed all officers to maintain heightened vigilance, particularly regarding land and mining disputes, and to ensure sensitive and cooperative behavior toward the public. The administration is also focusing on enhanced safety for women and preparing for upcoming Panchayati Raj elections.
