Rajasthan faces heavy rain alerts and parliamentary debate over border site demolitions
Rajasthan is facing significant weather disturbances and political scrutiny. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for seven districts in southern and eastern Rajasthan, predicting moderate to very heavy rainfall through August 11. A yellow alert has also been issued for 24 other districts, with rain expected to continue until August 13. Recent heavy downpours have already caused flooding in several areas, including the overflowing of the Kanota Dam in Jaipur and waterlogging in Bikaner.
Separately, Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal raised concerns in the Lok Sabha regarding the alleged demolition of religious sites and residential structures in Rajasthan's border areas, specifically within the Barmer constituency. Under Rule 377, Beniwal called for the attention of Home Minister Amit Shah, alleging that several mosques and shrines were demolished without proper legal process or community consultation. He requested a central team to investigate the situation to ensure transparency and respect for religious dignity in these sensitive border regions.
