Rajasthan forms committee to probe two maternal deaths in Bundi

The Rajasthan state government has established a four-member inquiry committee at the Government Medical College in Kota to investigate the deaths of two women following Caesarean deliveries at the Government General Hospital in Bundi.

The committee has been ordered to examine the circumstances of both cases and submit a report within two days. According to PMO Lakshminarayan Meena, medical records indicate that one patient suffered from severe postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) and died after being referred to a higher medical facility. The second patient developed respiratory distress following her procedure and also died after being referred to a facility in Kota.

In the case of Varsha Sen, records show she had undergone regular antenatal care check-ups prior to her admission on September 15. A Caesarean section was performed due to the foetus being in a transverse position. The final medical causes of death will be determined once the inquiry is complete.
