Rajasthan government to introduce Rajasthan Civil Code 2026

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma announced that the state government is working toward implementing the ‘Rajasthan Civil Code 2026’. Speaking at the 80th Independence Day state-level celebrations in Bikaner, Sharma stated that the proposed code aims to align with the spirit of Article 44 of the Indian Constitution, which directs states toward a Uniform Civil Code to ensure a consistent legal framework for all citizens.

To bolster peace and security, the Chief Minister highlighted several legislative measures, including the ‘Rajasthan Unrest Area Act’, designed to prevent forced migration and property sales in communally sensitive regions. He also emphasized the ‘Illegal Conversion Prohibition Act’, which targets religious conversions driven by fraud or inducement.

Regarding economic development, Sharma noted the progress of the HPCL Rajasthan Refinery project in Pachpadra, valued at approximately 79,459 crore rupees, and the Mahi-Banswara nuclear power project. He also mentioned the ‘Ram Jal Setu Link Project’, an estimated 91,000 crore rupee initiative focused on water security.
