Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde Orders Rajasthani Language Centers

Rajasthan Governor and Chancellor Haribhau Bagde issued an order directing eleven state‑funded universities in the state to establish dedicated Rajasthani Language Study Centres.

The directive was hailed by the Rajasthani diaspora in North America, whose representative Prem Bhandari, president of the Rajasthan Association of North America, described it as a historic milestone in the long‑running campaign for official recognition of the Rajasthani language and its inclusion in the Constitution’s Eighth Schedule.

Bhandari recalled earlier efforts, including a 2003 state resolution and memoranda to the central government, and urged the state to declare Rajasthani a second official language while pledging that the diaspora will continue its peaceful, democratic campaign for full constitutional status.
