Rajasthan launches 100 Kalika Patrolling Units for women's safety
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has launched 100 new ‘Kalika Patrolling Units’ in Jaipur to enhance the safety of women and girls. Launched during the Navratri festival, this initiative involves female police officers patrolling designated areas on two-wheelers to provide immediate assistance and monitor suspicious activities in public spaces, markets, and near educational institutions.
To support the personnel, the Chief Minister announced a fixed monthly travel allowance for the female officers deployed in these units to cover commuting expenses. During the launch event, Sharma also engaged in dialogue with female police officers and Youth Women Community Liaison Group (CLG) members via video conferencing to discuss ground-level challenges and ways to improve policing effectiveness.
