Rajasthan Police arrest dacoit absconding for 26 years
Rajasthan Police have arrested an alleged dacoit, identified as Dalla (also known as Ramesh or Dalla Baria), who had been absconding for 26 years. The arrest took place in the Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh.
The suspect is wanted in connection with a robbery that occurred on April 3, 2000, at the Vaishno Devi Petrol Pump on NH-8 within the Mangliyawas police station area. During that incident, a gang allegedly fled with Rs 1,64,513 in cash. While several accomplices were previously arrested and charged, Dalla remained at large despite a standing arrest warrant from the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Nasirabad.
The apprehension was part of a special police campaign running from September 15 to October 15, 2026, aimed at capturing wanted criminals and proclaimed offenders. To locate the suspect, a special police team conducted intelligence-gathering operations and camped in disguise in several villages, including Negadiya, Mahendikheda, and Sulla Mehuda, before launching a raid to apprehend him.
